February 2010

Edinburgh's Garden District has received significant press coverage since the charrette was launched. A sample of news pieces that have been published can be accessed below.

One of the key purposes of the charrette is to spark and encourage people to debate the project in an open forum, at an early stage.It was no surprise then that this debate spilled over into the press. Architect Malcolm Fraser and Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Ron Hewitt offered differing perspectives on the wider proposal in The Scotsman, and raise a number of interesting points.

11 October 2010

From 25 October - 3 November, we will be conducting the Edinburgh Garden District Charrette - an intense, concentrated design workshop through which interested members of the community can join forces with the architects and planners of Murray Estates and Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company to create a masterplan for the site.

We are keen that local residents play a central part in the process and would be delighted to hear your thoughts - why don't you come along?

During the week we will be running a series of workshops to deal with specific areas of interest:-

  • A Garden District;
  • A Connected District;
  • A Sports District;
  • A City District;
  • & A Working District.

View the charrette page to access the charrette schedule and for further details.
We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible.
